Watson Customer Behr Gives Back to Communities in Abundant Ways
Giving back to communities in need. Feeding those less fortunate who are hungry. Supporting nonprofits that make a difference in our neighborhoods. The future is bright when our customers, in alignment with Watson Land Company’s legacy of giving, also believe in contributing to our dynamic communities.
At Watson, we seek to develop significant, vibrant relationships with those in our communities, as well as create programs and projects that reach the people and places where we can do the most good. Our team meticulously identifies opportunities where WLC funding and employee volunteers can make a positive impact. From programs that inspire young adult leaders to senior services and enhancing the safety and quality of life in our local neighborhoods, it is woven into our company culture to create brighter futures.
That’s why we are thrilled to highlight customers like Behr Paint Company. With the unique contributions of partners like Behr, our vision is exemplified in the local communities where we live and work.
Today, this commitment is more relevant than ever. While so much has changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, customers such as Behr remain focused on safeguarding and uplifting our communities by supporting those who need us most.
Based in Santa Ana, California, with a distribution building at WLC’s West Hills Business Center in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, Behr Paint Company invests in our communities and engages their employees to support programs and fundraising events that help many different charitable efforts.
For more than sixty years, Behr has demonstrated this commitment to giving back. In 2003, the company established its legacy of contribution with the creation of Behr Cares: a program dedicated to Behr’s philanthropy throughout the local areas where they have a presence. Members of the Behr team have contributed in an abundance of ways, including food and clothing drives, blood drives, charity races, city cleanups, restoration projects, disaster relief, playground developments, donations, and much more.
The Behr Cares team has inspired communities by donating blood to the American Red Cross, making monetary contributions to The City of Hope and other charitable entities, and volunteering time to the March of Dimes March for Babies and the Revlon Run/Walk for Cancer.
The outreach program, “Painting for Good,” is a community service initiative developed by Behr, in which they partner with paint professionals to give back to communities in need. Facebook followers were encouraged to propose a building in their city that could benefit from a new coat of paint, such as a dilapidated school or a worn-out community center. The Valley Family Center, in San Fernando California, was nominated to receive a fresh paint job at no cost. The exterior and four youth activity rooms were given a refresh: the therapy playroom, art room, study center, and art gallery room.
Behr has also awarded grants to six nonprofit organizations making a difference in the community of Orange County, California. Part of a larger initiative that allocated $1,000,000 of its philanthropic funding for the year to support nonprofit organizations across the country, Behr employees selected specific charitable organizations that are creating opportunities in the corporate workforce through education or career resources. Organizations that received grants for that year include Goodwill of Orange County, Morehouse School of Medicine, The Teen Space, Taller San Jose Hope Builders, and Working Wardrobes.
Most recently, Behr has initiated the Behr Cares 2020 Food Drive. By partnering with Orange County’s Second Harvest Food Bank, the effort involves a virtual food drive throughout the month of October to help families who are struggling during the Covid-19 pandemic. Behr’s aim is to make a difference in the lives of the communities most impacted by the crisis, most importantly, making sure that every person has access to nutritious food. Every $1 helps provide the equivalent of 3 meals, with healthy food donated directly to children, seniors, individuals, and families.
Behr Paint Company has been recognized for its compassionate giving, amazing programs, and inspirational community efforts. And across the communities they serve, Behr’s employees are engaged in supporting neighbors and building the future. They give generously of their time, talent, and financial resources to nonprofit organizations. At Watson, we’re proud to share just some of what they’ve achieved – and how remarkable customers like Behr are for embracing the vision of community giving.
