The Watson Land Company Scholarship
For the past 43 years, the “Watson Land Company Scholarship” has been testament of its commitment to education. This scholarship provides students from Carson and Chino with financial grants to support their pursuit of a higher education. Local students planning to attend college or trade school can apply for the scholarship, which is awarded to nine deserving students (one from each of the qualifying high schools) annually.
The scholarship aims to prepare youth to lead productive lives and encourages them to give back to their communities. Watson Land Company seeks students who have demonstrated exemplary conduct throughout their high school experience, made positive impacts in their community, improve the quality of life for those around them, have built strong relationships with fellow students and treat teachers and staff with respect.
One of those Scholars is Zoe Villanueva, a graduate from Port of Los Angeles High School who on May 21st, at the Elks Club in San Pedro was awarded the $10,000 “Watson Land Company Scholarship” in recognition of her character and academic ambitions. In her own words, “We can become tough, almost unbreakable, and we can make the hardest challenges in the world look easy with growth, love, and support. Receiving this money means that you see my struggles and experiences, that you see my ambitions and potential.” Watson Land Company is thrilled to be part of Zoe’s higher education journey.
